First, a word on language. “Liberal” and “Conservative” have now ceased to have any real meaning, save as name-calling. (There’s nothing “conservative” about recent radical Supreme Court rulings.) So we ask you to toss traditional labels aside and consider policy only on its merits – not by knee-jerk associations. It will make for a more productive and interesting experience for all.
Some Basics
ProgressUSA is a place for freewheeling discussion for whatever you want to talk about. But as we work to identify and test-drive winning policy positions, we have two overall principles:
“Fairness” and “Common Sense”
If we use fairness and common sense as our “north star,” we believe they’ll keep us on track as we work on formulating policy that a majority of Americans can get behind. But beyond those two essential criteria, there are several specifics where we feel there can be no compromise:
- We think that recent Supreme Court rulings on abortion, gun rights, free speech, government regulation and presidential immunity (among others) are both radical and damaging. We believe these extreme rulings need to be overturned, overruled or nullified via legislation.
- We desperately need reform of the Supreme Court, including term limits and ethics rules.
- Redistricting can no longer be used to shut segments of the population out of the political process. The House of Representatives needs to be truly representative, as does the Senate.
- We need to keep big money out of politics. Democracy should not be “for sale.”
- The Founders were clear on separation of Church and State, despite protestations of some to the contrary. When it comes to religion, the Founders knew exactly what they were doing. Government has no place in religion; and religion no place in government.
- There are no “second class” citizens. There is no place in American society for discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, gender identity or anything else.
- Likewise, there is no American “ruling class.” No one is above the law, up to and including the President of the United States.
- Government has no business in your pants – nor between your legs. Period.
- All Americans share in the immense bounty made available to us by virtue of the country’s natural wealth and its talented, hard-working people. America is a shared experience – we all built it. Therefore, all Americans deserve to contribute their fair share, especially those who have benefited the most.
- A fair day’s pay for an honest day’s work is as American as apple pie and the flag. Worker pay and workers’ rights needs to be bedrock American policy.
- America is a nation of immigrants. Our history is replete with examples of immigrants who arrived penniless and ended up creating entire industries. That’s the American story in a nutshell. Sensible immigration policy is not just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do.
- There’s nothing the American people can’t do, if we put our minds to it.

He was literally “in the room” at the birth of the digital music revolution, having contributed to the development of both the digital drum machine and digital sampling keyboard. As a composer and producer, Billy has several kids’ TV shows to his credit, as well as over 20 years in advertising and web design.
Promise USA is a grassroots platform founded after the 2024 elections to champion a more inclusive and representative political system. Our blog serves as a safe haven for citizens to share innovative ideas that foster political engagement and reform.
In the beginning, our plan is three-fold:
- To identify policy positions that have the clear support of a majority of Americans, and
- Formulate clear and compelling language that embodies both our issues and principals, and then,
- Identify effective messengers
